Privacy Policy

Vestalis SRL, VAT IT10843950964, registered at Galleria dei Borromeo 3, 35137 Padova (PD), Italy, is responsible for the information described here. We run Vale, a free group-dinner service in Austin delivered by text message.
This is a short policy because we collect a small amount of information and use it to do one thing: put you at a table with five people you will get on with.
What we collect
- Your phone number, because that is how the service works.
- What you tell Vale when you join: your first name, roughly where you live, your age, how long you have been in town, what you do for work, what your weeks look like, when you are free in the evening, what you can't or won't eat, anything that would make a restaurant hard for you, and what you are hoping to get out of this. We keep your answers in your words.
- An email address, if you give us one. We ask once, for calendar invitations. Saying no changes nothing.
- Which Thursdays you can do, and whether you came.
- What you tell us after a dinner — how the evening went, who you spoke to most, whether you would be glad to see them again. It is how the next table gets better than the last.
- How the conversation goes, not only what it says: how long you take to reply, what time of day you write. We use it to tell a busy week from a change of mind, and for nothing else.
We never ask about your health — not depression, anxiety, therapy, medication or diagnoses. If something you say happens to touch on it, what you said stays with the rest of the conversation and is used for nothing else.
Who else sees it
The day before a dinner, the other people at your table are told your first name — and nothing else. Not your phone number, not your last name, not where you live, not anything you told us when you joined. It goes the other way too: you get their first names. That is the only time anything about you reaches another person using this service, and it is the point of the message — five strangers become five names before anyone walks in. If you would rather not be named, tell us and we will not put you at a table.
We also use a small number of companies to run the service. Each one receives only what it needs, and none of them may use it for their own purposes.
- DeepSeek — processes the text of the conversation so Vale can reply.
- Sendblue — delivers messages to and from your phone.
- Supabase — stores your answers and the dinner records.
- Vercel — hosts the website and the service.
- Sentry — tells us when something breaks. It receives the kind of error and the part of the service it happened in. It never receives what you wrote, your name or your number.
- Cloudflare — answers the internet's questions about where our website lives, and carries the email you send to the address below.
The restaurant knows a table of six is coming and, usually, one name for the booking. It does not receive a list of who is at it.
We are an Italian company serving people in the United States, so information moves between the two. Where a company we use is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, we rely on that. Where it is not, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and that includes the fact that you agreed to receive our messages: mobile opt-in data is never sold, rented or shared with anyone. We have never done so.
- We never sell sensitive information, with or without consent.
- We do not ask for what we do not need. No precise location, no access to your contacts, no photographs, no payment details — the dinners are free, so there is nothing to charge.
- No third-party tracking on our website. There are no advertising pixels, no analytics scripts and no external fonts on the page you arrived from.
- We never show one person what another said about them — not the words, not a score, not a sentiment.
How long we keep it
We keep your answers while you are using the service, and for two years after your last message, so that you can come back without starting again. After that we delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner and we will.
Records of dinners that already happened — who was at which table — are kept while your account is: they are how we avoid seating you with the same people over and over. They go when you go.
There is one thing a deletion request does not erase, and only one. If we ever remove someone from the dinners because of a safety report about them, we keep a one-way fingerprint of their phone number so that the removal holds. It is not the number, and anyone who only has that list cannot turn it back into one: the key that makes it readable is kept somewhere else and is never stored with it. It is not linked to a name, a conversation, or the report. It exists so that someone removed for safety cannot simply ask to be deleted and sign up again from the same phone. If you have not been removed, this does not apply to you — your deletion request erases everything.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete everything. When we delete, we delete — the conversation, your answers, your availability, the dinners you were at. The single exception is the safety fingerprint described above, and it applies only to someone removed for safety;
- stop processing your information;
- stop writing to you, which you can also do by replying STOP.
Write to info@textjuliet.com from the phone number you use with us, or with enough detail for us to find you. We answer within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for asking, and we will not ask you why.
If you are in Texas and we turn your request down, you may appeal by writing to the same address, and you may then complain to the Texas Attorney General. If you are in Europe, you may complain to your data protection authority.
Security
Conversations and answers are stored in a database that denies access by default. We keep the number of people who can read any of it as small as the service allows.
Children
The service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by text message before it takes effect.
